Frequently Asked Questions
Can you deliver my tiny home?
Yes, absolutely! This is something we will always include to ensure your Tiny Home arrives safely. We will be there to accept delivery and ensure a smooth handover.
Can you install my tiny home?
Always! We can take care of installation as well as any site works required to get your tiny home set up and ready to use.
How does insurance work?
Insurance for tiny homes can be a little tricky, which is why we recommend speaking with a specialist. Benjamin & Benjamin specialise in this area and can help you find the right cover for your tiny home.
Your tiny home is insured by us while it is being transported. Once it arrives at your property, we recommend having your own insurance in place from the time of delivery.
Can I change the layout of your Ready to Build designs?
Of course! Our Ready to Build range is a great starting point, but that doesn't mean you're locked into every detail.
Whether you're choosing one of our existing designs or creating something completely custom, our in-house interior designer will work with you to make the process as easy as possible and help you create a tiny home that best suits you and the way you want to live.
Can I customise the colours and finishes?
Absolutely. You'll have the opportunity to choose your finishes and create a look that feels like your home. Our in-house interior designer can help with everything from cabinetry and benchtops to flooring, colours, fixtures and all the smaller details that bring it together.
Do you build completely custom tiny homes?
Yes! If one of our Ready to Build designs isn't quite right, we can design a tiny home around your individual needs, style, property and budget.
What type of toilet is best?
This really depends on where your tiny home will be located and how you plan to use it.
If your tiny home will be staying in one location and you have access to sewer or an appropriate waste system, a standard plumbed flushing toilet is a great option.
If traditional plumbing isn't available, there are also composting and incinerator toilet options. We can talk you through the different choices and help you work out what will best suit your property and how you plan to use your tiny home.
How soon can I get my tiny home?
This depends on a few things, but we'll always do our best to work with your timeframe.
The design process can be as quick as you need it to be, provided there aren't too many changes along the way. If you choose one of our Ready to Build designs, we can move through this stage even faster and get things underway.
Timing will also depend on our current build schedule. Where we can, we may be able to shuffle existing delivery dates, as not every customer needs their tiny home straight away.
Build time will vary depending on the size and complexity of your tiny home, however our average build time is around 6-8 weeks from final design sign-off.
If you have a particular date in mind, talk to us and we'll let you know what we can realistically make work.
Can I make upgrades to my tiny home?
Absolutely! There are plenty of ways to upgrade and personalise your tiny home, with options such as double-glazed windows, an incinerator toilet, Corian benchtops, upgraded fixtures and other finishes and features.
The important thing is that our build quality doesn't change depending on whether you choose upgrades. Things like tiled bathrooms, hybrid timber flooring, soft-close kitchen cabinetry, integrated appliances, Pro Clima wall and roof wrap, and Foilboard floor insulation are all part of our minimum standard.
Upgrades are there to personalise your home — not to bring it up to a standard we believe it should already be built to.
Can you take care of the site works?
Yes! We can help with the site works required for your tiny home, including site preparation, access, services and installation.
Every property is different, so we'll discuss your site with you and work out exactly what is required before your tiny home arrives.
Can I live in a tiny home permanently?
This will depend on your property, location and local council requirements. Tiny home planning and approval requirements can vary, so it's important to understand what applies to your individual property and how you intend to use your tiny home.
Do I need council approval?
Not always. This depends on where your tiny home will be located, how it will be used and how it is installed.
Every property and council area can be different, so we recommend checking the requirements that apply to your site. We can also help you understand what may be required as part of the process.
I'm not sure where to start. Can you help?
Definitely. You don't need to have everything figured out before you contact us.
Tell us what you're hoping to use your tiny home for, where it's going, your budget and what's important to you, and we'll help you work through the options. Whether that's one of our Ready to Build homes with a few changes or something completely custom, we'll help make the process as simple as possible.
